I started one of my summer projects today by taking some test shots. I tried to find Richard Avedon’s “In the american west” but that wasn’t easy so I ended up doing all the preplanning and research on my computer. The latest exhibition at NRM is about Tomas Tranströmer and his collection of insects. This man has been busy over the years. Not only is he a recognized poet and writer, he is also a psychologist, naturalist and piano player. (Thanks Wikipedia.)

My old RPG-heart is beating very fast after watching the first couple of episodes of HBO’s fantasy-series Game of Thrones. Unlike most crappy fantasy on TV this one is all about politics and great acting. Not just poorly animated monsters, C-type actors and bullshit magic.
And I very much enjoy seeing Peter Dinklage in a major role again. The station agent really got me hooked on indie films, and it’s still one of my favorite movies.
So if you like a good story and enjoy the fantasy scenery, start watching.
I went through my archive the other day when I found a couple of shots from the Spitsbergen expedition 2009. I still wonder why I didn’t move my backpack out of the frame. But I like the diffused light and fog always creates an interesting backdrop.
Go see the new temporary exhibition at the Swedish Museum of Natural History. It’s about singing insects and it is really cool.

And finally, the light is back. Thanks to the planets orbit, constant rotation and tilt we do anticipate this around the same time every year. But somehow it always feel special. So now we don’t have to go to L.A. anymore to get those nice evening photons. At least for the next couple of months.
Perhaps the most enjoyable part of todays shoot was when I photographed participants on a flower excursion to Lappkärret.
