These are part of a series of Gullmarsplan – the new Slussen. I shot them for our latest AWS assignment.

AWS is a group of architectural photographers that met during a photo workshop with Åke E Lindman. We pick challenging buildings to photograph and then we compare and discuss the results.

Workshop Barcelona.

I recently spent a week in Barcelona attending a workshop in architectural photography. Our teacher was none other than Åke E:son Lindman, one of the most skillful and productive photographers in this field.

This week was all work and no play. At home I had chosen two very modern buildings to focus on, really tall and with lots of glass. But after our initial lecture I went in a completely different direction and chose to spend most of the time on a two-story house made out of concrete.

I did work on a second building though, MACBA, the museum of contemporary art by Richard Meier. It’s a fantastic building with an overwhelming amount of lines, shapes and shadowplay, as you can see above.

Nature Reserve House.

I like everything about this house, the Nature Preserve House by architect John McLeod. It’s been built by solid local materials, by near-living contractors in harmony with the surroundings, both geographically and community-wise. Not a single thing in the house has been built without an underlying idea of ecology and sustainability. All photographs by Susan Teare.
